4 th of July 2010 - Into the Caledonian Canal |
Crew : | Helen and Andy |
Destinations : | Seaport Marina. |
Distance : | 3 miles |
Having spent a few days exploring Inverness and seeing the new Woody Allen film, I was again joined by Andy. I showed him some of the sights of Inverness before visiting the supermarket to re-provision our stores for the trip down The Caledonian Canal.
I had already spoken with the lock keeper at Clachnaharry sea lock so I just radioed him to confirm he was expecting us through the lock at 8am Sunday morning. When we woke the forecast wind had not yet built, although it was wet. We had a smooth departure out of the marina, around the corner and through the sea lock.
One more lock and a rail swing bridge and we were moored for breakfast. The wind did increase up to gusts of 35 knots. A good day to catch up on laundry.
