Destinations : Ramsgate.
Distance : 42 miles

Sunday 15 th June

In order to catch the tide around North Forland we had an early start, slipping our mooring at four in the morning and heading out to sea past Felixstowe docks.

To start with winds were light but by 0530 things had picked up and we turned the engine off and made good progress under full sail. With a following wind and moderate waves we were rolling about a fair bit, on one roll I (Andy) accidentally gybed the main and broke the mainsheet jammer. Fortunately I was able to make the sheet off on a spare winch so we were able to keep sailing.

Work on the London Array wind farm is now largely complete so we were able to take the passage through Foulger's Gat, giving us a close up view of the turbines.

With fair tide around North Foreland we were alongside in Ramsgate by 1230 in time to head into town for lunch and a visit to a chandlers to find a new mainsheet block.
