1 st of July 2012 - Back south

Sunday 1 ^st July

We woke to the alarm for the 0710 forecast. They were predicting northerlies and north easterlies with occasional force 6, decreasing to variables. They seemed set to decrease for a short time whilst a brief high pressure was going to became established (We weren't sure this was the right word as a low pressure was apparently going to be back with us the next day!) As the direction was good we left to get south past Ardnamurchan Point, hoping the sea state wouldn't be too rough. It wasn't, and we sailed under genoa and mizzen, until the wind died off around the east of Eigg. At this point we had all three sails set. We motored briefly until the wind returned and made around 7 knots to Loch Drumbuie at the entrance to Loch Sunart. The sun came out and we were eventually able to remove our oilskins and exchange woolly hats for baseball caps. We sailed through the entrance and I motored around to find a good spot to anchor whilst Andy sorted out the sails. The boat at the end of the loch looked familiar and as we approached we realised it was another Oyster 435, owned by a couple who had recently emailed us. It turned out that this was the first Oyster 435 we had ever looked at, called M'or Bruin at the time (now called Diotima). In 2005 she didn't meet our brief and we bought Ocean Mist instead. We motored around Diotima waving at her owners and found a place to anchor on the other side of a Hallberg Rassy that we had accompanied all the way from Inverie. The sunset was as we remembered from 2 years previously.
