Another early morning start to catch the tide. By 8am the wind had filled in enough for us to turn the engine off and sail up the coast, but by 1045 it was fading away so we motor sailed to keep up reasonable progress.
By the time we were off Harwich there was still enough tide for us to get over the Deben bar so we carried on to the Deben, anchoring at The Rocks (our favourite stop on this river) at 1600.
Friday 13 th September 2013
Finally the tides gave us a last start so we had a leisurely morning at anchor, reading, watching birds and enjoying a fly past by a Spitfire. Overnight the wind had swung around to a gentle on-shore breeze so at low water we swung inshore and gently grounded, but as the tide came in we floated off.
We set off after lunch, back out over the bar and arriving back in Ipswich at 1800.
