14 th of August 2010 - Loch Crinan |
Crew : | Andy and Helen | |
Destinations : | Gallanach Bay Loch Crinan. | |
Distance : | 28 miles |
Today we needed to keep the tides in mind as we were heading down to Crinan through the sound of Luing. This is basically the northern approach to the Sound of Jura. Alternatives would be Grey Dogs or Corryvreckan, neither of which we fancied as it was spring tides. We had to motor as we had got our first Scottish high pressure system.. This made it nice and sunny but didn't give much wind. We sped through the Sound of Luing at 13 knots over the ground!
Once through we found an anchorage in Loch Crinan, another Gallanach Bay, with a view down to The Paps of Jura. We sat and watched the sun as it set over the Paps.
