14 th to 15 th of June 2011 - Back across the Minch |
Crew : | Andy and Helen | |
Destinations : | Loch Inchard. | |
Distance : | 47 miles |
We left our berth at 07.30am. The people on Selene were up and we could see them following behind for a while. We sailed initially, with the wind behind us. Andy poled out the genoa and we put the preventer on the main and for a while were able to sail at around 6 knots. Unfortunately the wind died once more and we had to use the engine. We had the company of dolphins 4 times. The first was a pod of about 50 dolphins in total and they just kept on coming. We entered Loch Inchard after deciding not to get a mooring in Kinlochbervie. Instead we motored up to the head of the loch and chucked out the anchor.

We had a day at anchor and Andy planned passages to Stromness and Loch Eriboll. The weather was pretty wet until the evening when it cleared and we had a fabulous sunset.
