Friday 20th July
After removing an old rope that had fouled our anchor and picking up our boat hook which had been dropped in the process of clearing the anchor, we were heading down the narrows by 0635. The wind was in a perfect direction, off shore, so we sailed on a broad reach at 7-8 knots along the east coast.
THE MOUNTAINS OF MORNE |
It was the usual sunny warm weather as we hoisted the Irish courtesy ensign. Around 1200 the wind had dropped so we were able to have the cruising chute up for the next 2 hours until the wind died off completely. We headed into Dublin Bay and crossed the shipping lane, passing close to the red boys along the south side to avoid the ships, as instructed by port control.
We were alongside at around 1800, right opposite the big ship and ferry terminals. We used our new fender boards for the first time to protect our fenders from a rusty ladder on the pontoon and were prepared for an interesting but noisy time watching the traffic come and go.

GEORGIAN DUBLIN
Monday 23 rd July
As the weather forecast was for 5-7 and gale 8 further north we decided to spend another day in Dublin. We took the bikes on the Dart rail and headed south to Sandy Cove for lunch before cycling some of the way back.
