20 th to 21 st of September 2017 - Mazagon |
Crew : | Andy and Helen | |
Destinations : | Mazagon Marina. | |
Distance : | 41 miles |
We weighed anchor around 0855 and headed under the bridge, anchoring again at the mouth of the river. There was a shallow patch in the channel so we thought it would be helpful to have an extra 1 metre of tide. As it was there was no swell and we would have got out fairly easily. As usually there was not wind so we motored the whole way to Mazagon. This is at the entrance to the river that goes up to Huelva which apparently has the longest breakwater in Europe. As we were right at the entrance we didn't see the whole length. Mazagon was a nice small marina with a local bar. We spent a day alongside, visiting the famous lighthouse. El Faro.
This is where Columbus set off for his first adventure.
