22 nd to 23 rd of June 2018 - Bayonne |
Crew : | Helen and Andy | |
Destinations : | Anglet Marina. | |
Distance : | 16 miles |
We weighed anchor at around 0945, dropping our Spanish courtesy flag for the last time and replacing it with the tricolour. We had a slow sail along the coast to the river entrance at Anglet. By 1300 we were making our way along the training wall of the River Adour toward the marina. We tied up next to a very smelly fishing boat. This was destined to be our neighbour for the next couple of nights, which meant I kept checking our bins thinking something was rotting at the bottom. There were no other foreign boats there.
We found a nice place for lunch and then went on an urgent tea bag and muesli hunt with little luck. In the evening we cycled down to the beach. Everyone was out celebrating the weekend but the beach didn't look very inviting.
The following day we took the bikes along the river and found Bayonne, a lovely French Basque town. We had a delightful time exploring this little town and visiting the busy local market.
