After buying some very expensive diesel we left the marina, very happy that the boat next to us had left and the berths opposite were also empty. If this hadn't been the case I doubt we would have got out unaided since the pontoon and fairway were far too small for us. The sea was very still, but some of the high tech racing race boats were determined to try sailing as we left the harbour.
After an hour or so of motoring we picked up one of the free visitors moorings off Ile de Ré, at a beach just before the road bridge from the mainland. It was very warm and there was no wind, but over night a little bit of swell crept around the corner.
