Destinations : | Port Edgar Marina. |
Thursday 7 th June
Today was a day for exploring Edinburgh. We found a bus to take us to the centre and then Alberto and Angeliki went their own way. We checked out some Scottish paintings, walked the Royal Mile and visited the Scottish Parliament building.
We then walked to Leith. Alberto and Angeliki found us in the bar at The Kitchen, waiting for dinner, which was very good.
Friday 8 th June
Today after doing some laundry and spring cleaning their cabin, Alberto and Angeliki left us in the rain. We stayed behind for a lazy day. We were in Port Edgar Marina where there was a really nasty swell coming in. On a few occasions the boat rocked so wildly we feared for the stanchions again.
Saturday 9 th June
Today we headed on the bus back into Edinburgh again today, where we paid a visit to the Royal Yacht Britannia, highly recommended by Alberto and Angeliki. When we got back to South Queensferry, we walked through the village to The Hawes Inn from where David Balfour was kidnapped in Robert Louis Stevenson's Kidnapped. It certainly looked like a pub where a fight could break out quite quickly, I'm not sure about a kidnapping. There was a very good view of the Forth rail bridge above us, but we drank our beers quickly and went back to the boat , where we made new plans for the summer. We were keen to leave Port Edgar and decided we didn't want to spend the summer making passage through The Kiel Canal and sitting out storms in marinas. So Andy made a passage plan back to Inverness.
