Saturday 25 th August
We woke to a rather grey morning, but apart from the odd gust overnight, the gales had not arrived as forecast. The river gradually woke up and yachts, of all shapes and sizes, started trickling down with their sails up.
By 1230, the tide had started to flood and we decided it was time to head up to our new permanent berth at Ipswich Haven marina. We sailed under mizzen and genoa, slowly, as we were in no rush to stop sailing. However, we got to the lock and followed 4 other boats in, going port side to against the wall as there was no room for us on the pontoon. Our berth was just outside the lock gates and we moored with another old Oyster to starboard and a yacht called Hinewai to port who had come all the way from Australia with her skippers, Peter and Jean.
