Thursday 26 th June
Heading east meant crossing Dover harbour, port control treaded us between the ferries with their usual efficiency.
As we sailed up to North Foreland we heard a search and rescue helicopter on a training exercise calling up boats to ask to practice putting a winch-man aboard. They flew past us but we didn't catch their eye.
With a good rise of tide we took the overland route along the north Kent coast, anchoring at Harty Ferry.
Friday 27 th June
We've used the anchorage at Harty Ferry on several occasions but never been ashore, so today we decided to rectify that and took the tender over to the slipway near the inn. We decided to go for a walk to see some of Sheppey and were rewarded by a marsh harrier appearing from behind a hedge and flying almost over our heads, quite a treat.
We had a pleasant lunch at The Ferry Hose in before heading back to the boat.
