30 th of October 2006 - Pete Takes Charge

Sunday 30th October

Pete skipper today with me(Helen), Cheryl, Beverly and Chris as crew. Rather more crew management today and Pete had to contend with a very bossy first mate so it took a little while to settle into our stride. Anyway the sun was shining on us and we headed out to Roughs Tower again, coming through the lock without any incidents this time.

We had a few near misses as a bunch of racing yachts over took us very closely with their spinakers flying. Beverly took the helm as we headed up along the shipping channel. As we got to Roughs Tower the wind died and we didn't quite manage to circumnavigate the Tower, however we got good look at the accommodation before slowly drifting down the East of Cork Sands. Decided against a sail up The Stour due to the lack of wind and again got back safely thanks to some fantastic skippering on Pete's part.
