We woke to rain and grey skies. However the wind looked good for anchoring at the Islas de Cies, part of the Parque Nacional Maritimo Terrestre das Illas Atlanticas de Galicia. The sun was apparently going to shine so we decided to trust the forecast. We made our way between the viveiros and sailed across to the beach on the east side of the isthmus between the Isla del Norte and the Isla del Faro. There were two other yachts at anchor. As the sun started to fight through the cloud both boats were getting ready to leave. We were further away from the beach than we wanted to be so waited for them to move so we could reset our anchor. However, once the sun started to shine, we were itching to get ashore so we gave up waiting and took Little May ashore. Although she has wheels the sand was very soft and we struggled to wheel her up out of the reach of high water. Once there we dried our feet and had a coffee, before walking along to the Monte de Faro lighthouse. There were very few people around. Just one group from the ferry which arrived when we did. Most of them stayed near the beach. The views across the islands and out to sea were stunning. We visited a bird hide which gave us views down to the cliffs where the shags were starting to think about making their nests.
